CPR & NURSE ESSENTIALS is now providing SAMA Training-Satori Alternatives for Managing Aggression

SAMA is a risk management program created by Larry Hampton (creator of the award winning PMAB program) which is presented in four video-driven, facilitator-coached experiential programs.

SAMA programs have to be presented in sequential order, but not all groups require all four programs.
SAMA training is beneficial for:
  • Doctor offices
  • Dental offices
  • Mental Health Providers
  • College and School Faculty
  • Businesses
  • Anyone who has a relationship with another person!

Additional Information about the four programs is provided below:

PROGRAM ONE:
ASSISTING PROCESS

Program One focuses on participants being able to de-escalate volatile situations using our Assisting Process. The Assisting Process is a logical, sequential format that leads the person in crisis from the reactive part of the brain to the reasoning part of the brain to resolve the activating situation. Participants also learn what drives anger and aggression, the Five Principles of SAMA that can be used in situations not specifically covered in the program, Critical Beliefs that underlie SAMA, exercises for developing empathy for those served.

PROGRAM TWO:
PROTECTION OF SELF AND OTHERS

Program Two focuses on skills for protecting oneself and others from aggressive act like strikes, kicks, pushes, wrist grasps, life threatening acts like chokes, hair pulls, bites and how to protect oneself on the ground. The techniques avoid pressure points and joint locks and protect both individuals. The Assisting Process is incorporated into the skills.

PROGRAM THREE:
CONTAINMENT

Program Three teaches skills for physically holding someone if they are actively trying to harm themselves or others and there is no less restrictive alternative available. The techniques avoid pressure points and joint locks and are based on the Five Principles of SAMA and body mechanics rather than muscular force. The Assisting Process is incorporated into the skills.

PROGRAM FOUR:
OBJECT RECOVERY

Program Four teaches skills for retrieving objects when a person is threatening to do harm and actively doing harm. The Assisting Process is incorporated into the skills.
